Biography

Dr. Rovshan Alimov holds a DSc degree in Political Sciences, professor, recognised as one of Uzbekistan’s leading experts in international relations and strategic studies.

Over the years, Mr Alimov has held senior positions in government and research and analysis bodies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including the Office of the National Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He served as Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as Chairman of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

From 2019 to 2024, he served as Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Nations. He also served at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan as Political Counsellor.

He is currently Head of the Department for the Retraining of Diplomatic Personnel at the Diplomatic Academy under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and Director of the Centre for the Study of Afghanistan and South Asia at the Institute of International Relations and Diplomacy.

Professor Alimov is the author of 3 monographs, more than ten academic books and textbooks, as well as around seventy academic articles published in national and international journals.
