For the first time, the capital hosted a large-scale event during which representatives of government agencies, research centers, and independent experts from all five Central Asian countries jointly analyzed the region’s prospects until the middle of the century and developed common approaches to long-term development. The initiative was launched by the Agency for Strategic Reforms, with the support of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies, the International Institute for Central Asia, and the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as with the assistance of the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan.

The Institute for Advanced International Studies was represented at the seminar by Islomkhon Gafarov, Head of the Center for Afghanistan and South Asian Studies, who moderated one of the discussions, as well as Shakhboz Akhmedov, Head of the Center for Sustainable Development, and Nargiza Umarova, Senior Research Fellow, who served as speakers. They covered topics such as ecosystem sustainability, energy transition, and strengthening intergovernmental cooperation.

Participants discussed demographic trends, climate change challenges, and the need to improve water and food security. Particular attention was paid to finding balanced solutions in the field of green energy, modernizing transport corridors, and strengthening economic complementarity among countries in the region.

Following the seminar, experts noted the importance of maintaining constant dialogue and joint work on strategic initiatives. The proposals prepared during the discussions were planned to be presented at the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, scheduled for September 2025.
