On December 3, a republican scientific and practical conference was organized at the Institute for Advanced International Studies at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy on the topic “Development of modern economic diplomacy of foreign countries and the possibility of applying their experience to Uzbekistan”.

At the event attended deputies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan, researchers from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research, the Institute for Advanced International Studies under UWED, employees and students of the Diplomatic Academy under UWED, as well as faculty, doctoral students and undergraduates of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

The conference participants discussed the current state of development of economic diplomacy in China, the Republic of Korea, Germany, India, Hungary, Sweden, Poland, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and others. Particular attention was paid to the development in recent years of the economic diplomacy of New Uzbekistan, the pace of which is constantly gaining accelerated momentum.

The speakers noted that the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to radically improve the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and strengthen its responsibility for the implementation of priority areas of foreign policy and foreign economic activity”, adopted in April 2018, gave a huge impetus to the development of economic diplomacy in the republic and designated it as a powerful tool for the implementation of priority areas of foreign policy and foreign economic activity. The speakers stressed that economic diplomacy today is the most important tool for promoting economic interests in the international arena and a powerful lever for strengthening the country's international competitiveness.
