On May 21-26, 2023, IAIS Deputy Director A. Umarov traveled to the UK to participate in a conference on the theme “The life of the urban Muslim society in Afghanistan: alternative ideas about society and politics”, organized by the Universities of Cambridge and Sussex. The event was attended by representatives of universities from Europe (Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic) and the USA. Along with this, A. Umarov visited Brighton to hold talks with the director of the School of Global Studies of the University of Sussex Professor E. Harrison and the head of the Center for Asian Studies of the university Professor M. Marsden on deepening cooperation with IAIS within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed in February of the current year. Meetings were also organized at the University of Sussex Development Institute, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, the Royal United Services Institution (RUSI), and the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
