IAIS and the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences Outline New Areas of Cooperation

On July 9, a working meeting with a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences was held. During the meeting, the parties presented the main areas of their research and educational activities and discussed opportunities for expanding institutional ties.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for conducting joint research on the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the development of international transport corridors, and the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway. Other potential areas of cooperation discussed included the internationalization of the yuan, the evolving role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, regional security, counterterrorism, sustainable development, and water security in Central Asia.

The parties expressed interest in developing academic mobility, mutual exchanges of researchers, faculty, and students, organizing joint lectures and training courses, as well as preparing scientific publications and applications for international research funding. The Chinese side also invited Uzbek experts to participate in an international forum on China’s modernization, scheduled for December 2026.
