On April 16, a videoconference was held between representatives of IAIS and UWED and experts from the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On behalf of UWED and IAIS, the event was attended by heads and faculty members of the departments of “International Economics,” “Systems Analysis and Mathematical Modeling,” and “International Finance and Investment,” as well as staff from the IAIS Center for Economic Diplomacy. The Azerbaijani side was represented by heads and leading researchers from relevant departments of the Institute of Economics, including those dealing with economic policy, service sector development, regional development, business environment regulation, foreign economic activity, and international relations.
During the videoconference, the parties discussed promising areas for bilateral scientific and academic cooperation. They explored opportunities for implementing joint research projects, preparing joint publications in international scientific journals, and conducting comparative and interregional studies. Special attention was paid to the development of academic mobility, including the organization of short-term research visits, guest lectures, and participation in scientific seminars.
In addition, the parties expressed interest in jointly organizing academic events – conferences, roundtables, and expert discussions on pressing issues of regional and global development. Participation in international grant programs and the development of expert dialogue, including the preparation of joint analytical materials and consultations, were also identified as important areas of cooperation.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop the identified areas of cooperation in phases and to establish specific mechanisms for their implementation, thereby laying the foundation for further strengthening institutional and academic cooperation between UWED, IAIS, and the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
