The Institute for Advanced International Studies at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy is pleased to announce an open competition for an experienced consultant to design and deliver Project Management Training under the “Building Institutional Capacity for Sustainable Futures: A Pathway to Competitiveness in Central Asia and Beyond” initiative, funded by the MUNIS PRIM grant.

 

Background
In December 2024, IAIS was awarded a $195,600 grant under Subcomponent 1.3 of the Modernizing Uzbekistan National Innovation System (MUNIS) Project. Aligned with Uzbekistan’s Science Development Concept 2030 (Presidential Decree PF-6097, 29 October 2020), the grant supports institutional transformation of public research institutes, including modernization of research infrastructure, diversification of funding sources, and enhancement of management and forecasting capabilities.

 

Objective of the Assignment

The selected consultant will strengthen IAIS’s project management capacity by developing a tailored four-day in-person workshop (June 20–August 20 2025) aimed at improving planning, execution, monitoring and reporting of research projects. This training will equip researchers and administrative staff with practical tools, methodologies, and templates to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of collaborative and funded projects.

 

Scope of Services

  • Curriculum & Materials Development: Prepare presentations, case studies, handouts and detailed manuals on project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure.
  • Training Delivery: Facilitate interactive sessions on lifecycle management, work breakdown structures, scheduling, budgeting, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement and reporting, reinforced by group exercises and role-plays.
  • Templates & Tools: Provide user-friendly templates (project proposals, Gantt charts, risk registers, budget trackers) and guidance on their application within IAIS’s research context.

 

Deliverables & Payment

  1. Training Curriculum & Materials – 20% of Contract
  2. Delivery of Training Sessions – 30%
  3. Development of Templates & Tools – 20%
  4. Final Report & Act of Work Performed – 30%

 

Consultant Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Project Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ professional experience, preferably with academic or non-profit research projects
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering project management training
  • Familiarity with international PM standards (e.g. PMBOK, PRINCE2)
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills
