The main agenda of the meeting was devoted to discussing issues from students at the University of Chicago based on research topics on Uzbekistan. In particular, Chinese-Uzbek relations were discussed within the framework of the “One Belt, One Road” program, and the attractiveness of such projects not only for Uzbekistan, but also for China.
During the discussion, American students expressed their opinion about the commitment of the population of Uzbekistan to learning foreign languages. Discussing the multilingualism of the population, questions were considered about the role of minority languages (Tajik, Karakalpak) in Uzbekistan and the policy pursued by the state to promote the study of these languages.
The students emphasized that with the election of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, there has been rapid growth in attracting investments in various sectors of the country’s economy. One of the students noted the achievements of Uzbekistan within the framework of anti-corruption policy, which has a positive effect on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO. In addition, Uzbekistan’s commitment to a multi-vector foreign policy creates favorable conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation with all partners.
