On March 7, 2024, the IAIS Deputy Director Akram Umarov, the staff of the Center for American Studies led by Ulugbek Ishankhojayev convened discussions with the Charge d'affaires of the Spanish Embassy in Uzbekistan Gonzalo Fournier Conde.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospective plans for bilateral cooperation in the field of joint scientific research between universities in Uzbekistan and Spain, with a focus on Latin America. An agreement was reached to conduct a series of accelerated courses on the study of the Latin American region. This initiative aims to expand the knowledge and understanding of students and researchers about the history, culture, political situation, and economy of Latin America. The accelerated courses will enable participants to acquire key aspects of the region within a shorter period of time.
This collaboration between universities in Uzbekistan and Spain opens up new opportunities for academic exchange, scientific cooperation, and the enrichment of knowledge about both countries. It contributes to the development of friendly relations and the expansion of cultural dialogue between Uzbekistan, Spain, and the countries of Latin America.
