On the annual conference of the Central Eurasian Studies Society in Almaty

Abbos Bobokhonov, Head of the Centre for Asia-Pacific Studies of the Institute for Advanced International Studies participated in the annual conference of the Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS) held on June 6-9 this year at Turan University in Almaty, Kazakhstan. 

The conference was attended by more than 400 experts from leading research institutions from around the world who covered a wide range of topics in such disciplines as anthropology, history, cultural studies, gender studies, business, economics and finance, education, linguistics, sociology, political science, international relations and law.

Abbos Bobokhonov spoke on the panel “Digital China and Central Asia” with a presentation on “China’s strategic technological goals and their adaptability in the context of Uzbekistan”. In his speech, he noted the importance of integrating advanced Chinese technologies into Uzbekistan’s economy. The expert emphasised that China is a world leader in artificial intelligence, big data and 5G technologies, and these achievements can significantly contribute to the digital transformation of Uzbekistan. He also emphasised the need to develop strategies for adapting these technologies, taking into account local peculiarities. At the end of his speech, Abbos Bobokhonov called for intensified co-operation between Uzbek and Chinese technology companies to jointly develop innovative solutions capable of ensuring sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life in the region.

The event also included a number of bilateral meetings with scientists and experts from research institutes in Kazakhstan, during which a solid foundation for further collaboration was laid. The conference became an important platform for exchanging views, networking and establishing co-operation between leading researchers and experts from around the world. The participants had a unique opportunity to discuss current issues and challenges facing the world and propose innovative solutions to overcome them.
