The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) held the official launch of a significant new scholarly work, “President Harry S. Truman: The Time for Decision Making”, authored by researcher Islomkhon Gafarov.

The event opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Akram Umarov, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at UWED, Director of the Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS), and one of the author’s academic mentors. In his address, Dr. Umarov praised Gafarov’s intellectual discipline and analytical acumen, as well as his sustained commitment to fostering academic curiosity and excellence among the student body.

Distinguished historian Professor Dr. Rakhmon Farmonov also delivered an address, warmly congratulating the author on this important academic milestone. He commended the book as a valuable contribution to the field of historical scholarship and expressed his firm belief in the continued scholarly promise of the young researcher.

Another address was delivered by Odil Gafarov, a doctoral candidate at Southern Illinois University (USA) and the author’s brother. He emphasised that the book represents the culmination of years of meticulous research and intellectual dedication. In his own remarks, Islomkhon Gafarov introduced the book’s central themes, offering attendees insight into President Truman’s leadership style, strategic decision-making, and enduring legacy in American and global political history.

To further engage the audience, an interactive quiz testing participants’ knowledge of U.S. presidential history was conducted. The top three winners were presented with signed copies of the newly launched book. Other attendees received copies of Gafarov’s earlier work, “President Eisenhower”, also bearing the author’s signature.

The event concluded with expressions of appreciation from the author’s peers and students, followed by a commemorative group photograph. Held in a spirit of intellectual engagement and mutual respect, the launch reaffirmed UWED’s commitment to fostering historical inquiry, leadership studies, and academic excellence.
