Frontier Talks. Strategic Planning: Afghanistan–2030

We announce the upcoming Frontier Talks workshop entitled “Strategic Planning: Afghanistan–2030”, set to take place on 12 April from 13:00 to 17:00 at the IAIS Meetings Area.

The session will be led by Dr. Islomkhon Gafarov, Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Afghanistan and South Asian Studies, and interns Mirjalol Murtozaev, Jaloliddin Ibragimov and Saidakbar Shamsiev. These speakers together will guide participants through scenario development, critical issue mapping, and policy design aimed at envisioning Afghanistan’s possible futures by the year 2030.

This simulation-based masterclass offers participants a unique opportunity to delve into Afghanistan’s potential development trajectory over the next decade. Against the backdrop of shifting geopolitical dynamics, domestic uncertainties, and regional transformation, the workshop encourages attendees to engage with Afghanistan’s internal and external challenges through the use of strategic foresight methodologies.

Participants will take part in an interactive format designed to sharpen their strategic thinking and policy evaluation skills, contributing to a better understanding of how Afghanistan might navigate complex challenges such as governance, security, economic reconstruction, and regional integration in the years ahead.

This workshop is especially recommended for students of international relations, public policy, area studies, and those with an interest in Central and South Asian affairs. We invite all interested participants to join this intellectually stimulating session and contribute to a forward-looking discussion on one of the region’s most pressing strategic questions.
