Biography

Valery Khan holds a Doctor of Science degree in Philosophy and is a Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of World Economy and Diplomacy. He has taught at various universities in Uzbekistan, worked as Advisor to the Rector and Director of the Centre for Strategic Development Planning at the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Advisor to the Rector and Head of Department at the Nizami Tashkent State Pedagogical University, Deputy Director and Leading Researcher at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Project Manager at the State Committee for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Innovative Development. Taught abroad (South Korea): Hoso University (1998-2000), Hanyang and Seongkyungwan Universities (2011).

 

He has given guest lectures in the USA (Columbia University, Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Kansas, University of Georgia, Northeastern University in Chicago, Oregon National University); South Korea (Busan, Gyeongsang and Gyeongpuk National Universities, Korea University of International Relations, Hanyang, Myongji, Gyeongji, Chung-Ang Universities); Russia (Sakhalin State University) and others.

 

Professor Khan is the author of about 200 works published in 13 countries in different languages, including 8 personal monographs and 7 co-authored monographs. He is the author/co-author of textbooks in sociology, philosophy and modern history.

 

Participant in more than 20 international research projects. Holder of Fulbright and IREX grants (USA), INTAS (European Union), Korea Foundation, Academy of Korean Studies, Korean Institute of National History, etc. (South Korea), Agency for International Research and Development (South Korea), Agency for Development and Co-operation (Switzerland), Eurasia Foundation (Japan) scholarships and grants.

 

Member of editorial boards of 8 scientific journals of India, Russia, Turkey and South Korea, indexed in SCOPUS, Web of Sciences, EBSCO, RINC and other international databases, including 5 journals in the list of Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Member of international scientific associations (USA, Korea, EU), member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Central Asian Studies.
