Uzbekistan and Mexico: Prospects for Strategic Cooperation

In his new publication, Alexander Schrier, a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for American Studies, provides a nuanced analysis of the strategic potential for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mexico, two nations separated by vast geographical distance yet connected by shared challenges and opportunities. The commentary highlights that despite minimal economic exchanges and a significant distance of over 13,000 kilometers, both countries confront parallel issues, including the surge in undocumented migration, environmental sustainability, and the rapid evolution of the digital economy.

Author argues that by forging closer diplomatic ties, particularly through the establishment of reciprocal embassies, Uzbekistan and Mexico could initiate a fruitful exchange of expertise in these critical areas. Such collaboration could lead to the development of innovative solutions to mutual challenges, foster deeper bilateral relations, and enhance their respective roles on the global stage. The analysis underscores the transformative potential of this partnership in addressing not only bilateral concerns but also broader regional and global issues.
