On May 2, a meeting was held with the director of the Center for the Study of China and Central Asia of KIMEP (Kazakhstan) Zhang Xiaotong and the coordinator of the Center M. Agharabi, who arrived in our country to participate in the third international investment forum. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Department of International Relations at UWED, Associate Professor U. Khasanov, the head of the Chinese Studies Program at IAIS A. Bobokhonov and the head of the Center for Sustainable Development Research at IAIS Sh. Akhmedov. Representatives of Kazakhstan were familiarized with the activities of the IAIS and its research work.

We discussed current trends in Central Asia with partners from KIMEP University, touched upon regional aspects of interaction, as well as the schedule of upcoming joint events. Particular attention was paid to promising cooperation projects between the Institute for Advanced International Studies at UWED and the Center for the Study of China and Central Asia at KIMEP.

We agreed to hold regular research events (conferences, round tables, seminars), as well as hold joint expert meetings. As the first stage of cooperation, KIMEP representatives invited IAIS employees to participate in scientific events organized by them in June and November 2024.

The Center for China and Central Asian Studies (CCASC) at KIMEP was founded in 2017. The center is primarily focused on studying China's growing presence in Central Asia. The purpose of the Center is to contribute to the discussion and conduct scientific and applied research on the socio-political, economic and cultural aspects of China's development, with an emphasis on Beijing's implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative in Central Asia.
