On 15–18 December, Khayotjon Ibragimov, Head of the Center for Energy Diplomacy and Geopolitics at IAIS, took part in a Warsaw-based conference held at the invitation of the Warsaw Office of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), including senior researcher Szymon Kardaś. The conference, titled “Strategic Horizons: The Role of Central Asia in Europe’s Energy Future and the Global Order”, focused on the region’s expanding importance in Europe’s evolving energy landscape and broader geopolitics.

A dedicated panel discussion addressed how Central Asian energy resources and technologies could contribute to the EU’s green transition and industrial priorities, as well as barriers to deeper EU–Central Asia cooperation and approaches to overcoming them.

In his contribution, Khayotjon Ibragimov presented ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan’s energy sector, framed around the needs of a rapidly growing economy and population.

As an outcome, the sides exchanged ideas on expanding cooperation through joint research initiatives, co-hosted conferences and seminars, and the preparation of analytical and academic materials, including collaborative projects in comparative and regional studies.
