The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) hosted an informative working meeting between Dr Akram Umarov, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Director of the Institute of Advanced International Studies (IAIS), and Dr Suat Beylur, Director of the Eurasian Research Institute at the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Almaty, Kazakhstan). The meeting was also attended by IAIS Deputy Director Dr Durbek Amanov, Leading Research Fellows Sevara Ibragimova and Mushtariy Usmonova, as well as Head of the International Academic Cooperation Department of UWED Gavkhar Mirkhalilova.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the prospects of scientific and academic interaction in the context of strengthening Turkic co-operation. Dr Beylur spoke in detail about the activities of the Eurasian Research Institute, stressing the importance of its scientific publication Eurasian Research Journal.
One of the key points of the meeting was the proposal of the Kazakh side to launch a joint research project to analyse the trends and prospects of development of higher education in the Turkic space. The issues of forming a unified educational environment, strengthening academic mobility between universities of Turkic countries, as well as possible sources of funding for this initiative were discussed.
In addition, Dr Beylur expressed interest in expanding cooperation in such topical areas as the effects of climate change and the development of the Middle Corridor transport and logistics project. The UWED representatives expressed high interest in the identified topics for further deepening of bilateral scientific co-operation.
