On January 27, a working meeting with representatives of the European Commission and the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan was held at UWED. The talks were attended by Lea Tries, Project Manager at the Foreign Policy Instruments, and Michaela Zeleňanská, Political Affairs Officer of the EU Delegation in Tashkent. On behalf of UWED, the meeting was attended by the leadership of the Diplomatic Academy, Deputy Director of IAIS Odil Gafarov, and leading research fellow Mushtariy Usmonova.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for expanding expert and educational cooperation between European Union structures and diplomatic and academic institutions in Central Asian countries. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for organizing joint events aimed at developing professional contacts, exchanging experience, and strengthening institutional coordination in the field of foreign policy and diplomatic education.
A separate area of discussion was the development of cooperation with relevant European educational and research institutions. Possible formats for cooperation included workshops, training sessions, and joint educational sessions for diplomats and representatives of diplomatic academies in Central Asian countries, as well as expert discussions on current issues in international relations and the activities of EU institutions.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed mutual interest in establishing sustainable working contacts and creating additional platforms for regular professional dialogue.
