On April 1, at the Institute for Advanced International Studies at UWED, a meeting was held with the delegation of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, headed by director K. Babaev. The parties discussed the agenda of mutual cooperation, as well as current issues of regional and global development. The main emphasis was placed on strengthening interaction between specialists in the study of the Central Asian region.

IAIS Director Sh. Abdullayev briefed the Russian guests in detail on the activities of the Institute and the work done over the past period. He expressed his readiness to cooperate with ICCA both within the framework of research on Central Asia and on Chinese and East Asian studies. In turn, the Russian guest informed the participants about current activities and the latest changes taking place in the ICCA RAS, especially expressing deep interest in Central Asian studies.

As a result of the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the IAIS at UWED and ICCA RAS.
