The Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS) at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, in cooperation with the University of Glasgow, will host the Glasgow–Tashkent Research Colloquium under the theme “Global Eurasia: A Renewed Political Economy Research Prospectus”. The colloquium is kindly supported by the University of Glasgow’s MacFie Bequest.
The programme will bring together scholars and researchers from leading universities and research institutions to discuss the changing political economy of Eurasia, with particular attention to Uzbekistan, Central Asia, and wider regional transformations. The sessions will address themes including regional security and integration, resource governance, capital and dependency, social protection, migration, financial inclusion, information influence, geopolitical narratives, and the strategic presence of external actors in Central Asia.
The colloquium will open with remarks by Professor Luca Anceschi from the University of Glasgow and Professor Timur Dadabaev, Vice-Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, followed by a presentation of the concept and agenda by Matthew Heneghan. Across four thematic panels, participants from the University of Glasgow, UWED/IAIS, Webster University, the French Institute for Central Asian Studies, ODI Global, Yonsei University, Westminster International University in Tashkent, and other institutions will present their research and exchange views on the evolving political, economic, and intellectual landscape of Eurasia.
