Biography

In 2007, Dr. Abbos Bobokhonov obtained his Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s degree from the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek in 2009. From 2010 to 2018, he served as a Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, and Chief Research Fellow at the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He then held the position of the Head of Department at the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 2018 to 2020. In 2021-2023, he had been a doctoral student (PhD) at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. He is currently the Head of the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies at IAIS. From August 2024 to January 2025, he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Georgia State University (Atlanta, USA).

 

Dr. Bobokhonov’s research interests encompass contemporary Chinese foreign policy in Central Asia, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), China’s soft power initiatives, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). He has authored over 15 research articles published in various prominent local and international journals.
