Biography

Akbar Mavlonov is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in various industries. Since 2020, he has been an essential member of ACWA Power, contributing to the Business Development Department in Uzbekistan. His role entails facilitating discussions, negotiating project agreements, conducting pre-feasibility studies, and overseeing bid submissions. During his tenure at ACWA Power, he has been instrumental in driving forward several key initiatives, notably the development of projects such as Sirdarya 1500 MW CCGT, Bash & Dzhankeldy Wind Farm (1 GW), Nukus Wind Farm (100 MW), and Kungrad Wind Farm (1500 MW). He has also been actively involved in international tender processes with prestigious institutions like the IFC, ADB, and EBRD within the renewable energy sector.

Before joining ACWA Power, Akbar held the position of Head of the New Business Development and Projects Department at the Uzbekistan representative office of POSCO International, a leading South Korean corporation. During this time, he successfully led various Business-to-Government (B2G) projects across multiple sectors, securing significant contracts such as the Talimarjan 929 MW CCGT EPC Contract and procurement contracts for waste collection trucks, natural and synthetic rubber, and medical equipment.

Prior to his role at POSCO International, Akbar served as the Head of the Marketing Department at a non-profit association overseeing textile factories in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. In this capacity, he managed all aspects of import and export procedures, production, warehouse, and logistics operations. Additionally, he played a key role in establishing Trading Houses in several countries.

Akbar's dedication to overcoming challenges and his commitment to academic excellence led him to earn a Master of Science Degree in Management in Banking and Finance from Wales University, following his Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages from Navoi State Pedagogical University, Uzbekistan.
