Biography

Through the KF Global Challengers Program from the Korea Foundation under South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeon Hongpyo is currently serving as a visiting research fellow at the Institute for Advanced International Studies.

 

He graduated from Sejong University in Seoul in 2023, with a major in English Language and Literature and a dual major in Global Media Software. During his time at university, he worked as a Korean tutor for foreign students for two semesters at Daeyang Humanity College in 2022. He was also recognized for his outstanding performance at a winter writing camp held at the university. Furthermore, Jeon was awarded a 2024 scholarship from The Lotte Foundation.

 

From July 2023 to February 2024, Jeon interned with the KOICA Young Professional Program at the Korea Hope Foundation, an NGO focused on international development cooperation. As part of the Africa team at the Korea Hope Foundation, he supported the Gosarison Fund Project in collaboration with the Korea Women’s Foundation, particularly by developing gender education project plans in partnership with the local Burundian organization IPSDI BURUNDI. He also managed and promoted a project aimed at strengthening the socio-economic capabilities of underprivileged people through a vocational skills education program in Kidera Village, Uganda.

 

His research interests include international development cooperation and migration phenomena in Asian society, with a particular focus on transnationalism and Official Development Assistance (ODA).
