As IAIS expert Nargiza Umarova believes, the launch of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the construction of which will start in October 2024, will strengthen transport connectivity in Central Asia and increase the transit attractiveness of the region.

 

In the new publication on Central Asian Bureau for Analytical Reporting author discusses how the project could shift cargo flows and foster new international trade corridors, but it may also intensify competition among Central Asian countries, as well as suggests the need for coordinated efforts to prevent rivalry and ensure mutual benefits from the railway.
