Frontier Talks with Dr. Frank Maracchione on China’s Next Chapter: Domestic Transformation and Global Engagement

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) and the Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS) are pleased to invite you to the next Frontier Talks expert lecture: “China’s Next Chapter: Domestic Transformation and Global Engagement” — an online session dedicated to one of the defining questions shaping today’s global geopolitical landscape.

The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Frank Maracchione, a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the School of Politics & International Relations, University of Kent (UK), and a Visiting Research Fellow at IAIS within the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies. Previously, he served as a Senior Researcher at Global Partners Governance (London-based NGO), contributing to a project on China–Central Asia relations. He completed his PhD at the University of Sheffield (UK) with a dissertation titled “Amir Timur in Shanghai: Locating Agency in Uzbekistan–China Relations”.

During the lecture, participants will explore:

  • China’s current domestic political and economic challenges;
  • the influence of global competition and regional pressures;
  • how internal dynamics shape foreign policy choices;
  • analytical tools for studying China’s strategic behaviour.
